Embu Supreme Council of elders disown Governor Wambora

Embu council of elders which is commonly referred to as “Nyangi Ndereri” has disowned Embu Governor Martin Wambora and termed him as ungrateful and therefore are reviewing their support against him.
Led by their Chairman Andrew Ireri, the elders have said that the governor was thankless despite their support during his two impeachments.
Ireri has said that the governor has kept evading the elders every time they have sought an appointment with him thus frustrating them to present their grievances.
He has further added that the elders have not been in good terms with other leaders in the county because they supported Wambora all through but instead of showing gratitude the Governor has gone ahead and shown no concern and interest meeting the elders.
The elders have challenged the governor and have also called on him to come out and explain to them whether he is seeking election upon which they make their stand known.
Ireri said that Wambora is currently enjoying the reigns of powers which the elders’ petition in court after the senate and the county assembly up held to impeach against him.
He added that, the governor has no time to seat with the elders to address challenges affecting the county and he is also unable to resolve issues affecting the county such as land matters and politics.
The chairman of the council has further unveiled that the elders earned many enemies from other leaders within the county for supporting Wambora.
They have further disclosed that they are not after monitory gains but are doing this to enable justice prevail within the county of Embu in which they argue people’s rights have been violated.
Wambora was accused by Embu MCAs of flouting the County Government Act by appointing public servants without the assembly's approval.
He was also accused of embezzling Ksh 35 million by purchasing maize seeds that never germinated procurement of vehicles and authorization to renovate Embu Stadium at a cost of Ksh 50 million.
Wambora has been in court for over a year since a motion of impeachment against him successfully went through the Embu County assembly and the Senate but was reinstated by the high court.
